Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center

698 North Maple Island Road, Muskegon, MI, USA, Michigan

There is a Nature Trail, over 10 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, and some of the best birding in Michigan! Muskegon Wastewater encompasses 11,000 acres of treatment cells, storage lagoons, farms, forest, and grassland. The two 850-acre storage lagoons are big enough that each would be in the top 100 of Michigan’s biggest lakes – not bad in a state with thousands of lakes." In addition to all the above, the Muskegon Astronomical Society maintains an observatory on site. Rockets are launched by the Muskegon Michigan Area Rocketry. The Port City RCers fly radio control aircraft and the West Michigan Area RC Club drive radio control ground vehicles! While all these trails and tours are free, a visitor pass is required. Just click here to fill out you application. You can also find more information on all the above, including the clubs and birding reports/counts.
