WOMEN AT THE FOREFRONT: Stories from the Permanent Collection

July 24

Women at the Forefront: Stories from the Permanent Collection presents artworks by women who were highly influential and successful during their lifetimes, exhibiting, teaching, innovating, advocating, and pioneering. Today, many of their stories are being rediscovered and shared with new audiences.

This exhibition highlights the stories of these women through their art and biographies, calling attention to their achievements and celebrating the contributions of women through the decades. Works by Deborah Butterfield, Mary Cassatt, Elizabeth Catlett, Clarice Cliff, Imogen Cunningham, Judy Dater, Françoise Gilot, Käthe Kollwitz, Pauline Palmer, Alice Schille, Esphyr Slobodkina, and other artists are featured in a variety of media.

The exhibition will open to the public at the Muskegon Museum of Art on Thursday, May 20.
